Tour Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or another designated location, our guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. This charming three-star resort offers a peaceful retreat, featuring a lush green garden, an outdoor pool, and a bar. You may use this day to relax and unwind or explore Moshi on a guided city tour.

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred by car to Marangu Gate for permit registration. Each cyclist will complete the necessary formalities before meeting the team of porters who will accompany the journey. From Marangu Gate, we will proceed to Kilema Gate, our official starting point for the cycling adventure within Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. The ride will take us through a lush rainforest teeming with diverse plant species, birds, and wildlife. The day’s journey will conclude at Kilema Camp (2,980m), where we will spend the night in tents within the designated camp area.

Today's ride takes us through Kilimanjaro’s semi-tropical foothills before ascending a steep path toward Horombo Camp at 3,700m. Along the way, the landscape transitions from lush greenery to the rugged terrain of the high-altitude zone. Upon reaching Horombo, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s two iconic peaks-Mawenzi and Kibo. We will spend the night at the camp, resting and acclimatizing for the journey ahead.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, a crucial part of the journey. After breakfast, we will cycle through the Alpine desert to Mawenzi Hut before returning to Horombo Camp. This ride helps your body adjust to the altitude while offering stunning views of the rugged terrain. We will spend another night at Horombo Camp, preparing for the next stage of the adventure.

After breakfast, we begin our ride, passing through the stunning Senecio Garden, home to endemic plant species. The trail continues through the vast Alpine desert, offering breathtaking views as it winds between the towering Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Upon reaching Kibo Base Camp, we will have a detailed summit briefing to prepare for the final ascent, followed by an afternoon of rest before the ultimate challenge ahead.

This challenging part of the journey begins at midnight with a zigzag trek up the steep slopes of Kilimanjaro. After approximately two hours, we will reach Hans Meyer’s Cave before continuing the demanding ascent to Gilman’s Point, a three-hour climb where the gradient becomes steeper. At Gilman’s Point, porters will hand over your bike, and from here, you will ride along the crater rim toward the summit-Uhuru Peak.

At the top, breathtaking panoramic views await, including Kilimanjaro’s glaciers, Mount Meru, and the vast landscapes of Tanzania and Kenya. From the summit, you can either cycle or descend on foot, depending on your condition and the guide’s recommendations, with summit porters assisting in carrying bikes if needed.

After a restful night and breakfast, you will embark on your final ride down, traversing the moorland and lush rainforest to Kilema Gate. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Marangu Gate for check-out before heading back to your hotel. For those seeking one last adventure, an optional ride from Kilema Gate back to Moshi is available.

These inclusions and exclusions provide a comprehensive overview of what’s covered and what’s not in a safari package.
